Place heavy-duty doormats or rugs at all exterior entrances for scraping and absorbing moisture. Mats will capture the significant amounts of outside dirt, pollen, and especially the fine, staining red clay before they reach your tile.

A high-quality grout sealant is non-negotiable for tile floors in Georgia. With high humidity, grout is vulnerable to moisture, staining, and mildew. Apply a penetrating sealant after installation and re-apply every 1–2 years, depending on traffic, to create a protective, water-resistant barrier.

Apply felt protectors or rubber caps beneath the legs of all chairs, tables, and heavy furniture to prevent scratching when furniture is dragged across the floor.

Strategically placing area rugs in hallways, near the kitchen sink, or areas where children play will bear the brunt of foot traffic and abrasion. Rugs will also trap dirt and keep it from migrating to other rooms.

During the humid summer months, utilize a dehumidifier or air conditioner to keep indoor humidity levels between 30% and 50%. Lowering indoor moisture significantly reduces the chance of mold and mildew taking hold in grout lines.
